Karen Weathers serves as the head communications officer aboard Griffin. She has one son named Christopher, who began serving with the CMI in 2621.

Weathers participated in Operation Menelaus as a member of Griffin's comms teams. After the fall out of the battle in the Aster system, she took the post of head of communications of the bridge, following the death of Lieutenant O'Donnell.
The Third Side

As with Ali Liu, Karen Weathers transferred to a new vessel during Griffin's lengthy repair and renovation period, returning her original post as soon as the carrier was cleared for duty. She acted once more as communications officer on the bridge, going with Griffin to the Coyote system to search for the White Knights.
When it was discovered that the Pandoran forces around Mythos were somehow masking their vessel signatures (and declaring themselves friendly) Weathers was charged with working with a number of UNF teams to decipher the cause. She eventually uncovered a fault in the radar systems that was being exploited by the Enemy and oversaw the creation of a software hot-fix.

Weathers continued to serve as chief communications officer aboard Griffin throughout the Pandoran War. In late 2624, she went with the carrier to the core Mitikas systems, to aid in the search for Zackaria.
Knowing that the CMI were preparing to set down on the surface of Kethlan, Weathers begged Parks not to allow Christopher, her son, to join the drop teams. Parks had to ignore her request, however, citing the fact that many sacrifices had been made already and he was unable to make personal exceptions at that point in the war. He did promise her to team Christopher with the very best.
After returning to Sol, Weathers intercepted a communication between Parks and Omar Wyatt, discovering that Parks intended to sneak aboard Cratos and hijack the dreadnought, so as to take it in search of the prototype TSB in the HD 21563010 system.
Both Weathers and Liu joined Parks on Cratos, sneaking aboard a security shuttle of their own and assisting in the battle with the Pandoran forces that ambushed them around HD 21563010 Ab.
Weathers served aboard Griffin during the Battle for the Solar System, as well as the mop-up following the end of the war.
