The Attribute of the Strong [Toggle Spoilers]

The Rex system was attacked in 2622, when a large number of Pandoran fighter pilots and a frigate, The North-South Divide, invaded. The attack was timed to coincide with the invasion of the Gabriel system, cutting off the escape route for all those gathered at Rex and preparing to flee the system.

Both Kelly Taylor and her family were in the Rex system at the time, the attacking Pandoran squadron destroying Calypso's Fancy, the vessel the family were aboard, as well as the space station the ATAF pilot was attempting to defend.
