Young was stationed in Trilliack during the Kingdom of Tzac's invasion of the system, and led the Sparrows in battle against them, including fighting a key battle against a great number of mercenaries that had been hired to take down UNF Lovelace.

Despite his dedication to the United Naval Forces, it was discovered after Tzac's defeat and surrender that Young had been secretly working with the Kingdom, supplying them with information and arms. He went as far as to assist in hunting down Isabel Nelson, before his own treachery was uncovered. He was captured in Trilliack during the same engagement, and court-martialled for his actions.
