Jon Wells was a pilot in the CSN and a member of the White Knights fighter squadron. He spent many years in the navy and was close friends with Simon Dodds, Enrique Todd, Kelly Taylor and Estelle de Winter. He was nicknamed "JJ" by his friends.

In early 2617, Wells was killed during a routine training mission, when the Ray he had been piloting was struck by another, that had suffered an engine failure. Both Wells and his co-pilot attempted to eject, but were unable to do so before the fighter hit the ground.
