Damien Archer was part of the SAR dispatchment team called out from Spirit to assist CSN Cardinal, led by Sam Williams. Compared to Kate Somerville and Ted Barker, his role involved more scouting and offensive duties. Archer was scouting the lower decks of the Cardinal, looking for hostiles and survivors, when he came across a group of people gagged and bound in a room. Without pausing the think, he made his way into the room, tripping a laser trap that set off a number of bombs. He was killed immediately, his team-mates being killed in the subsequent explosions and destruction of Cardinal.
