PPR

The Phased Plasma Rifle is a common field weapon, issued by all major military groups throughout the galaxy. Like other plasma-based weapons, it fires magnetically contained bolts of extremely hot helium, the power of which is determined by the rating of the gun itself. The rifles make use of power cells (often referred to as 'batteries'). The colour of the bolts can range from green to cyan, depending on other adaptive elements present.

The rifles are able to make use of power cells of a wattage equal or less than the rating of the weapon itself. For example, a PPR-60 could use a 60w or 35w battery. Inserting a higher rated cell (80w or 120w) would overload the gun and cause it to explode, injuring (potentially fatally) the user.
