When Patrick Dean came to the Dodds Orchard, seeking refuge and sanctuary from the CSN agents tracking him, Simon Dodds at first thought that it had been Socks that had been banging on the porch door of the house. He later discovered, however, that Socks had been sleeping downstairs in the living room the whole time.

It was revealed by Gregory Dodds that Socks died on 24th December, 2624. Simon's mother was said to be more upset about the death of the cat, than the impending arrival of the Pandoran fleet to Sol.
